Oceanside (Camp Pendleton) Family
Our family firmly believes in the power of ABA for our 4-year-old son who has an autism diagnosis. We were fortunate enough to have received a recommendation by a friend that was already a client of CAC, and we had no idea how life changing that would be!
From our first phone call with Chris, to meeting Andrea and Maria, we were welcomed by a sense of family even as brand new clients. Comprehensive Autism Center continues to amaze us with their ability to bring the best out of our son. In just six short months they have been able to unlock parts of our son that we weren’t sure we would ever see. We started with a little boy who rarely put two words together, was nowhere near being potty trained, and we weren’t able to enjoy everyday activities that other families could; like going to the park or playing in the backyard.
As a mom, it fills my heart with immense joy that our son is now able to tell us what we wants using a whole sentence! He is potty trained and able to go to school in underwear like the other children! We are now able to go to the park and play outside because he understands to stay by mom and not run away. We can even take him to the store and he is more well behaved than our typical child! This is all absolutely a direct result of our services with CAC.
We feel the possibilities for our son are limitless and we know that his therapists, Ashley and Johnny (with special appearances by Aimee) are absolutely why we have seen these results. Every single person that interacts with us in our home and behind the scenes plays an amazing and equally important role in us being able to give our son the quality of life he deserves. If I could say one thing to a parent who is deciding whether to take this approach or become a part of the CAC family it would be, pick up the phone! It just might change your child’s life and I’d say that’s worth a try!

Our younger son had another agency providing his ABA services for the first year and a half after he was diagnosed with Autism. He made steady progress, but nothing compared to the tremendous progress that my husband and I have seen him make since he became a client of Comprehensive Autism Center! Libby (a BCBA with a knowledge of her field that is surpassed only by her heart for the clients that she works with!) has written a program for our younger son that, when implemented by the incredibly talented BSTs on our case, has brought out spontaneous play, communication, and given our son a higher quality of life in general. In short, CAC’s team is helping us get our son back, one piece at a time.
When our older son was diagnosed with Asperger’s Disorder (after years of struggling), we could think of no better ABA company to deliver therapy to our older son than the same company that had already been so successful with our younger child. Libby also manages the program for our older son, and has showed a knowledge of both “ends” of the Spectrum, as well as ages (my children are ages 13 and 3, respectively). From the beginning with CAC, there has seemed to be no behavior too formidable for my children’s teams to tackle!
It doesn’t stop there though! From the very beginning, I have always felt as though my children were much more than dollar signs to CAC… which can be the case, unfortunately, with many larger companies. The administrative staff at CAC are friendly, professional, and really care about our children…a trait I find very important when selecting a provider for my special little guys. Andrea and Chris are very family-oriented, and give back to our community (both Autism and military), whenever they can, and I absolutely love that about them.
Good people, good supervisors, good therapists… just a really, really good business! This is why I have recommended many friends and newly diagnosed families to CAC, and will continue to do so for as long as they’ll let me.

Andrea and her group are an unbelivable team of professionals. From the first days of meeting the team, they were so incredibly supportive and professional to our son and family. From the back office right down to the Trainer’s everything is so well run at Comprehensive Autism Center. The Consultant is always accesible for any questions, and provides valuable insight into the direction of our son’s program. Everyone on the team genuinely has the best interest in mind for our son. For any family that is new to ABA, or familiar with it, Comprehensive Autism Center is definitely one of the best.

My wife and I are both physicians and have struggled with having a child on the autistic spectrum. We consider ourselves very lucky to have called the Comprehensive Autism Center and highly recommend Andrea and her staff to any parents out there who are looking for a great ABA provider! Their expertise and skills trainers have helped our daughter move from little meaningful communication to the use of three or four word communicative statements in just over three months. Andrea along with her staff and skills trainers are responsive to our needs and have a clear plan targeting the needs of our child. They have implemented a nice mix between directive ABA and playtime focusing on social skills development. We are confident that with the help of Comprehensive Autism Center, E.P. will continue to improve her behaviors, communication, and social skills!

Working with Comprehensive Autism Center and its staff has been a very positive experience. Our supervisor and trainers have been professional, caring, and creative in their approach to developing a results-oriented program for my daughter.

Andrea Macken is such a talented and skilled professional. She has an amazing wealth of knowledge that she is able to apply at any moment as the need arises. Andrea is caring, intuitive and compassionate. She addresses the needs of the whole child and his family – not just a set of skills in a set program. She is lively, animated, and flexible. T.C. absolutely adores and respects her. It is evident that Andrea’s heart is in her work. Andrea constantly checks in to see where T.C. is at and adjusts his program accordingly. She has been a pivotal person in working with me to prepare for T.C.’s IEP. With Andrea, you get more than an ABA program: You get an advisor, teacher, consultant, and friend.

I would recommend CAC to anyone. In fact, I already have. They always try and match the provider with the child so that they can get the most out of their sessions. They are very encouraging not only to the child but the parent also. They offer parent training so that progress can continue and so the family can succeed. They have a great staff behind the scenes and exceptional team leaders who do team meetings to make sure things are running smoothly, what they can improve, what concerns you have, how the child is doing, and so on. So if you’re looking at an ABA company and not sure who to use you won’t be disappointed with them.

After a year with another agency, on advice from fellow parents of children in the spectrum, we changed agencies to CAC in November 2009. Our only wish with the change is that we had done it sooner! The incredible dedication to our children’s growth starts with Andrea and Chris all the way down to the staff that came to our home. CAC is supportive in everyway from parent training, considerate scheduling, individualizing programs, prompt/professional communication, and an entirely educated and dedicated staff who’s passion is clearly expressed.
We would highly recommend CAC to all parents seeking a successful ABA partnership.

I am truly amazed by how much my son has progessed in only a few months. The CAC team has done wonders for him. They have opened new doors for him both socially and academically. The level of professionalism and commitment is immeasurable. They have really become an extension of our family.

We have been receiving services from Comprehensive Autism Center for the last 18 months. Our son A.K. was diagnosed with autism two years ago and at the time we were devastated with the little hope for any sort of recovery. I tried using an ABA service with another company, but was greatly disappointed with little or no results. We took a break from ABA for a few months until I heard about Comprehensive Autism Center. Cautiously, I invited your company into my family’s life and I could not believe the difference it made for us!
I didn’t realize what my child “could” do because I was always focusing on what he couldn’t do. I quickly found out that he could go out on community outings without running away or having tantrums. I discovered that my son could learn to speak in sentences without screaming at me. I learned that he could be mainstreamed into a typical classroom (kindergarten here we come!)
My daughter and husband also benefited from Comprehensive Autism Center. We are now able to have team/family meetings allowing everyone to put their heads together to help our son and family. Comprehensive Autism Center was there when my husband deployed to Iraq for six months and kept us going while helping our son.
Our son is not the same person he was eighteen months ago and neither are we! We are stronger, more confident and excited about our future. Our son improves everyday and everyone notices the change.
Thanks to all of you!
