  • What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?
    Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication.* We now know that there is not one autism but many subtypes, and each person with autism can have unique strengths and challenges.
  • What Does ABA Stand For?
    The term ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis. It’s an approach that was derived from learning theory. In ABA, a socially significant behavior is targeted, such as a child learning to make request. And then an environmental alteration is introduced, such as teaching instructions and a reward for a correct response. And then the change in the targeted behavior is objectively measured.
  • What is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)?
    A BCBA is a board certified individual who is trained to provide and supervise behavior analysis. Often it is a BCBA who supervises individuals providing ABA.
  • What is a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)?
    The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is one of the credentials extended by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board to paraprofessionals who execute interventions for promoting socially acceptable behaviors.
  • How Long Do Children Typically Need ABA Therapy?
    Every child is unique and so this is determined on a child-by-child basis. ABA is an on-going therapy that can change and grow with your child to cater to their ever-changing needs as they continue to grow older.

  • What Insurances Are You In-network With?
    Aetna, Blue Shield of CA, Community Health Group, IEHP, Magellan, Molina, Tricare, United Behavioral Health/Optum, Inland Regional Center and San Diego Regional Center.
  • What is an Adventure Team?
    At CAC, we provide our families with an Adventure Team to help navigate through their journey. Your team will consist of a BCBA, RBT, Center Guide, and Care Coordinator, designated to your region.
  • What is the Community Cares Program?
    Our Community Cares Program is based on our commitment to provide resources inside and outside of our center. We collaborate with our local cities to develop inclusion programs for our families.
  • What is the BHT Benefit through Medi-cal?
    Through Medi-Cal, families have coverage for ABA therapy regardless of diagnosis. This enables parents and children to get started quickly without having to wait.
  • How long does it take to have an autism diagnosis done?
    Diagnostic assessments at CAC can be completed anywhere from 1-4 weeks from the family reaching out and is dependent on insurance provider requirements and CAC availability.
  • How quickly can we get started with ABA therapy services?
    The assessment for ABA services is typically scheduled within a couple of weeks of a family reaching out. Direct ABA services with the child can typically then start within 3-4 weeks following the completion of the ABA assessment process.
